About Tillsonburg Optometrist - Dr. Gary Nelles. Tillsonburg Eye Doctor, Our Focus is on You

Dr. Nelles is a lifelong resident of the Tillsonburg area. He grew up in Straffordville and attended both Annandale and Glendale high schools. He attained his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Waterloo in 1999 and his Doctor of Optometry degree from the School of Optometry at the University of Waterloo in 2003. He graduated from both programs on the Dean’s Honours List.

While in school, Dr. Nelles did an externship with the Eye Centers of Florida to complete his training in ocular therapeutics and disease management. During this time, he worked with ophthalmologists to manage many types of patients including those with: cataracts, diabetes, glaucoma and macular degeneration. He also went on a mission to Mexico to provide eyecare and donated eyeglasses at no charge. Since graduation, he has developed a passion for the management and care of infants and children as well as fitting contact lenses and managing laser eye surgery patients.

When Dr. Nelles is not working, he enjoys golfing, playing hockey and woodworking to design and build furniture. Some of his craftmanship can even be seen at his office.
